Bio

Jordi Gaspar (1960, Barcelona) is a musician: bassist, composer and educator. His instruments are electric bass, acoustic bass and double bass. He has played and continues to play an important role as an instrumentalist, and is a leading professor of his instruments. He has been the pedagogical director at the Escola Superior de Taller de Músics, in Barcelona, from 2014 to 2021.

His eclectic character has marked his musical career in various styles.

In jazz, he has shared the stage with musicians such as Tete Montoliu, Lluis Vidal, John Abercrombie, Bob Moses, Mulgrew Miller, Dave Liebman, Jordi Bonell, Jordi Farrés, Joan Sanmartí, Joan Vinyals, José Luis Gámez, Iñaki Salvador, Dave Schnitter, Victor de Diego, Santi de la Rubia, Billy Hart, Vince Mendoza, Jorge Rossy, Jeff Ballard, David Xirgu, Oriol Roca, Núria Cols, etc.

In flamenco he has been in several projects with Martirio and Miguel Poveda (2004), Rosario La Tremendita (2009-12), Chicuelo (2007) and Montse Cortés (2013). Currently in the project "Oleándole" and producing "Wayne Shorter Goes to Flamenco".

In other music he has accompanied artists such as J.M.Serrat, Rumba 3 or Maria del Mar Bonet, etc. He is a regular on the Gospel scene, and has been collaborating with the Carlit Choir since 2005.

He is a regular contributor to Ferran Savall, with whom he recorded “Mireu el Nostre Mar” (2007)

He specializes in solo concerts. In this format, his discography includes: Akixí (2009), La Nit (2012), Inabastable (2013) and So Tender (2022); recorded while playing his acoustic bass guitar (Tacoma Thunderchief).

In his discography as a leader we have Gemini (2012), Libro de Oraciones (2015), Ombra de Lúa (2019); all with the particular color of the acoustic bass guitar.

He has recorded many albums on other projects. For example “Bittor” and “Tribute” with Victor by Diego Trio, “Inferències” and “Flax Golden Tales” with Sergi Sirvent Octopussy Cats, “Misceladio” with Eladio Reinón Quintet, “Mireu el Nostre Mar” with Ferran Savall, .. and many others.
